Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy explains what personal data Briefed collects, how we use it, and the choices you have. We aim to collect only what we need to deliver your daily brief.
1. Who we are
Briefed ("we", "us") operates the Briefed service — a personalized daily email brief. If you have questions about this policy, contact us at morning@morningbriefed.com.
2. Information we collect
- Account information. When you create an account, our authentication provider (Clerk) processes your email address and credentials. We receive a user identifier and your email so we can sign you in and deliver your brief.
- Your preferences and brief inputs. The topics, entities, watchlists, goals, themes and delivery settings you choose so we can personalize your brief.
- Payment information. If you subscribe, payments are processed by Stripe. We do not store full card numbers; we receive limited billing details and subscription status from Stripe.
- Usage and delivery data. Basic technical and delivery information (for example, whether an email was delivered or opened) used to operate and improve the service.
3. How we use your information
- To generate and deliver your personalized daily brief by email.
- To create and secure your account and authenticate sign-in.
- To process subscriptions, billing and related support.
- To operate, maintain, debug and improve the service.
- To communicate with you about your account, security and service changes.
4. How your data is stored and shared
Your account and preference data is stored in our database, hosted on Neon (managed PostgreSQL). We share data only with the service providers that help us run Briefed:
- Clerk — authentication and account management.
- Neon — database hosting (PostgreSQL).
- Resend — email delivery of your brief and account messages.
- Stripe — payment and subscription processing.
These providers process data on our behalf under their own terms and security practices. We may also disclose information if required by law or to protect our rights and users.
5. We do not sell your personal data
We never sell your personal data. Briefed is delivered by email only, and we do not trade, rent or sell your information to advertisers or data brokers.
6. Data retention
We keep your personal data while your account is active and as needed to provide the service. When you delete your account or ask us to remove your data, we delete or anonymize it within a reasonable period, except where we must retain certain records to meet legal, accounting or security obligations.
7. Your choices and rights
You can update your preferences or unsubscribe at any time, and you can request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal data by contacting us. Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under applicable privacy laws.
8. Security
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures, and rely on established providers (Clerk, Neon, Resend, Stripe), to protect your data. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
9. Children
Briefed is not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age in your jurisdiction), and we do not knowingly collect their personal data.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date above and, where appropriate, notify you.
